Vipul Mudgal
Director and Chief Executive – Common Cause
Vipul Mudgal, a prominent speaker at the Imagine Photojournalism Seminar in 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019, is the Director of the Publics and Policies Programme at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), Delhi. He also leads the Inclusive Media for Change project, funded by the Ford Foundation, which aims to connect mainstream media with rural India’s challenges.
With senior editorial experience at Hindustan Times, India Today, BBC World Service, and Asia Times, he has a deep understanding of political and social violence, democracy, and sustainable development. His research focuses on marginalized communities and India’s agrarian crises.
He holds a doctorate in Media Sociology from Leicester University, U.K., and has been honored with the Nehru Centenary British Fellowship and the US Government’s Jefferson Fellowship. He regularly delivers lectures on democratic responses to terrorism and development alternatives, and has spoken at renowned institutions such as Oxford, Cambridge, and the National Police Academy.
