Imagine Photojournalist Society was founded in 2012 with the objective to transform the skills of Photojournalism and Photography among people around the globe. The society was created with the aim to spread Photojournalism Literacy among professionals and learners.
The Hon’ble Governor of Rajasthan Ms. Margaret Alva launched the flag of Imagine Photojournalist Society on September 25, 2012. That was the day a movement of providing a better platform for learning, exchanging experiences, analyzing research, intercepting trends and creating skill based value education training programs was undertaken by the Society.
The activities of Imagine Photojournalist Society includes Photography Exhibitions, Professional Training Camps, Skill Oriented Workshops for students and professionals, Research Programs and the Photojournalism Seminar was also launched in the year 2015. Imagine Photojournalist Society is the one in Asia to hold the yearly National as well as International Seminar named as Jaipur Photojournalism Seminar with the active support of the acclaimed Industry Professionals and reputed peoples who are having great contribution to the society in the country and also marked the world.
The contributors in Photojournalism Literacy includes Mr. Siddharth Varadarajan (Indian-American Journalist, founder & Editor, The Wire), Mr. Vipul Mudgal (an activist, Veteran Journalist and Chairman, iam4change), Mr. Bandeep Singh (Group Photo Editor, India Today), Mr. M.K Venu (founder of The Wire & former Editor, The Hindu), Mr. Prashant Panjiar (WordPress Photo), Mr. Rohit Parihar (Sr. Editor, India today), Mr. Narendra Bisht (Photo Editor, Outlook), Ms. Dharmendra Kanwar (famous Travel Writer), Mr. Himanshu Joshi (Editor and Publisher, Terrascape), Mr. Tashi Tobyal (Photojournalist, Indian Express), Mr. Pramod Pushkarna (renowned War Photographer, National Herald), Mr. Satish Pednekar (Journalist), Mr. Aditya Arya (Photographer), Mr. Umesh Gogna (Travel photographer), Prof. (Dr.)Sandeep Sancheti (Group V.C., SRM University), Prof, (Dr.) Sachin Batra (Sr. Journalist and Professor), Mr. Shailesh Rawal (Photojournalist, India Today), Mr. Sandeep Purohit (Editor, Rajasthan Patrika), Mr. Mahesh Sharma (State Editor, Dainik Navjyoti) etc.
The chairperson of The Imagine Photojournalist Society, Mr. Purushottam Diwakar (Sr. Photojournalist, India Today) is the founder of the society. He holds the merit of mainstream Photojournalism and various International assignments in Africa, Thailand and Dubai. His many evident photographs achieved the cover pages of the magazine and appreciated throughout the world. He has trained many professionals, students and learners. The latest experiment of Field reporting on camera is widely quoted as a group of young girls created a milestone in the male dominated field under his specially carved training program named ‘Camera Commando’. The girls worked for 45 days in the extreme harsh conditions, odd temperature and traveled for around 5000 kilometer in different regions of India and produced the rare glimpses.
Thus the Imagine Photojournalist Society’s journey of Photojournalism Literacy is still on……
